Fouled anchor and 'Old Gaffers'

For my birthday Mike came and stayed for a couple of days and we went for a short sail across to the Helford river. Brilliant weather and good wind but when we arrived we went to anchor and it just dragged.
When we pulled it back up we had hooked a very old, weed encrusted lobster pot.

We went out to deeper water and managed to unhook it, so that it could go to a more permanent rest away from all the yachts anchoring!!!!!

We then tried anchoring again twice
and managed to find a load of weed and a rocky patch up river so gave up and picked up a mooring for the night.

The following day there were two old traders sailing around the bay so we followed them having a good look at the way they did things.

Beautiful ‘Old gaffers’. Love to look but wouldn’t want to own one.
