Walton Backwaters

Rather than going up to Ipswich we went into the Walton Backwaters. These are set in rather flat countryside and you can see for miles. There is permanent seal colony and often they would surface around the boat. One day we actually saw them surfacing out of the water like Dolphins – spectacular.
After a few days in Hamford Water we went up the Walton Channel to Titchmarsh marina. This is a really nice, friendly marina with a good restaurant and well stocked chandlery, we will go back.
A week later after collecting our post and starting yet another experiment with batteries we left the marina and anchored at the North end of Walton Channel where we were protected from the NE chop which enters the main channel.
Here we wait for the winds to move from the NE so that we can go across to North Holland and hopefully further.
